We are a local Costa Rican family living on a small farm which we seek to make it organic. We are in the process of creating a situation of sustainable living using permaculture techniques, forest protection around us, and participating in our local economy.
10 acres are devoted to livestock, free of chemicals that proves it works agroforestry and permaculture. We devoted two acres to a family ecotourism project that seeks to provide sustainable education for future generations. Water is abundant here, thanks to the abundant rain and waterfalls of the property besides the river of blue color just 800 meters from our property is located. The soil is diverse but rich in minerals is also quite acidic.
In recent years, we are recovering the ground by manually adjusting till the soil and fertilization with rich compost produced in situ, including companion plants, and we do a mixture of microorganisms collected from the forest. We are beyond organic; You are free. Our chemical dedication to agriculture free of chemicals it extends to our fruits and seeds vegetables. The give birth to a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, spices and medicinal plants. and more.

Our farm is located in the small cumunidad of La Paz de Rio Celeste, Alajuela provinve of Costa Rica, in the shade of the Tenorio Volcano National Park, we believe that the forest is an important resource, and we have an obligation to protect it.
Our project is in n its beginnings and we have many things to do, we work with own budget without bank loans and volunteer help will allow us to grow faster and see our dream become a reality.

For most volunteer programs such as WWOOF there is the expectation of your work in exchange for food and lodging. That is suitable for much of the developed world where the cost of local labor is expensive and farm produce brings a good financial return. As both the local labor and the price of locally produced food, fruit, and vegetables is very inexpensive in Costa Rica, we simply can not provide for the permaculture and organic practices competency training, our non profit Blue Morpho butterfly habitat program, and the operational expenses of the farm by selling our produce and request our students contribute a modest fee for lodging and the educational training received. This allows us to keep significant acreage unfarmed and in a naturally preserved jungle and riverside setting as well as providing educational competency training in permaculture and organic practices rather than simply providing a hard labor farm position. The partner’s contribution is then paid to local workers who do most of the heavy work at the farm and return the goodwill to the local community. This gives us a positive presence within the community.
